Electronic music setup in December 1997; Yamaha TQ5, Boss Dr550, Freebass 383, Marshall Guv'nor

Electronic music setup in December 1997; Yamaha TQ5, Boss Dr550, Freebass 383, Marshall Guv'nor Video Clips. Duration : 3.08 Mins.

My gear at home in 1997. A Yamaha TQ5 is the master sequencer and sound source and goes direct in stereo into the Tandy mixer. The TQ5 provides midi clock and sync out to a Boss Dr550 drum machine, which is in pattern play mode (so I change the patterns manually using the keypad) and is running into the Yamaha REX-50 which is set on a compression patch; this then runs in stereo into the Tandy mixer. The TQ5 is also providing midi-note information on channel 1 to the Freebass FB383 which is an analogue 303 synth clone. This is running into a Boss DM3 analogue delay pedal (with the pedal removed for easier access to the switch) and then into a Marshall Guv'nor, running in mono into the mixer on a mic channel. This is the setup that was used to record the "Live" LP at Turan Audio in Oxford. The songs were played live into Pro Tools. This recording was made with a Sony TR680E 8mm camcorder, with the headphone output of the mixer running into the microphone socket, so there is some compression from the mic circuit. The song that is playing is an early version of the track "Goal!" which was inspired by the Nightshift columnist Dr Shotover, who claimed that I had written a song called this. So I decided to do it. The finished version is in a collection of "rarities" songs which I haven't released yet and am deciding what to do with - the Youtube video "Purity" is also in this collection.
