This is a semi-instructional video showcasing my footwork on my Infected Mushroom - Becoming Insane drum cover and some practice footage from that same session. Check out the full cover here: www.youtube.com I didn't edit and upload this video to show off but rather help all you guys out there that are looking for this kind of footage - As a drummer I find myself on YouTube ALOT just looking around for some tips, new techniques and ideas for drumming. I have seen some really good and inspiring drummers here on YouTube and learnt alot just from watching them. I guess this is my way of giving back to this great community hoping this video will also help or inspire someone =] and NOW - on to the video! In both kick drum buildups in this song I'm not playing an identical part to the one played by the original song's MIDI drums. I'm playing 16th note sixlets while the MIDI kick drum plays 32nd notes. Since this song is at 145bpm that's the equivalent of 16th notes at 290bpm. Simply put - TOO FAST. Playing 16th note sixlets is increasing the speed of 16th notes only by x1.5 instead of x2 for 32nd notes - this being equivalent to 16th notes at 217.5bpm is somewhat more sane :) This difference might be hard to hear when both parts are played together so I hope this video will help clear things up a bit. I've seen drummers on YouTube play 16th notes on the kick drum in speeds of upto 300bpm, but that's out of my league for the time being. I've made no modifications to my bass drum ...

I will note that it's hard to properly expose a video monitor, and the color ends up looking a little bit blown out in parts of this video. In its defense, this monitor looks just fine. Are the colors perfect? Probably not, but this monitor does a great job for its size and price. My cellphone is heavier then this monitor which means no real extra weight added to your current setup. In fact you could probably get away with mounting this and a microphone on your camera's hot shoe without any problems.
