Before you sample any piece of music make sure that you have the rights to do so. In some cases it is illegal to sample certain pieces of music. Getting sound samples from a piece of music with Audacity is very easy. Here is how it is done Load the music you want to sample in Audacity. Next find roughly the sound you want to sample. Use your selection tool to select that area you want to sample. Use the 'zoom in' magnification tool to tighten up on the selection. Carefully fine tune your selection until you have exactly the sound you want. Now you need to COPY the selection. EDIT menu and select COPY. You will now need to put this sound into a new Audacity project. FILE menu NEW. You can now PASTE this sound into the new empty project. That is it. Audacity Version - 1.2.6 (Updated Information as of 4-27-2011) Explains how to set your sound card to comply with Audacity. This should work in Vista and Win 7 without any problems. Finding sound card drivers can be difficult and those could be the problem in why Audacity doesnt see your sound card. First thing to do, Head to your START MENU Then ALL PROGRAMS Click on WINDOWS UPDATE (located near top of the menu) This loads up your essential updates for hardware and software currently active on your PC. It should recognize your soundcard. Usually you can find the Sound card update in the OPTIONAL UPDATES link within the WINDOWS UPDATE screen. Include that with a check mark for updating, and of course download it, install it and be good to go. then follow steps in the video and you should be set. Audacity is a very easy piece of software to use. It makes editing music and sound a pleasure. The first thing you learn in this Audacity tutorial is how to open an existing recording. It is as simple as drag and drop the MP3, WAV, etc. onto the Audacity window. When you are ready to remove some sound from a recording you need to select the sound by holding your mouse button and sliding over that sound. Once you have the sound selected, to delete the sound you just hit your delete key on your computer's keyboard. If there is a section of your music you would like to zoom in on you just need to select it with your mouse and click the 'fit selection to window' button in Audacity. If you find a button you are unfamiliar with you just need to hover your mouse over it and its name will appear after a couple of seconds. It is simple to fade out a sound recording in Audacity.
