Testing Yamaha DD 65 digital drums covering Norwegian rock band 'Big Bang' and the song 'To the mountains'. Its been a while since I played drums and I struggle a bit keeping a steady rhythm.. I have connected the DD65 to a pc with EZ drums installed.(midi connection) I also configured the TOM-1 pad as open hi-hat and the hi-hat floor pad as a second bass-drum. Re assigning the pads was very easy to do.The drum sound from the DD is quite good but i recorded the sound from the Ez drums on this video. PC sound card: TerraTech phase 22 pci - compatible with any low latency audio standard. Guitar sound from Line 6 spider 3 set to green crunch and medium drive. Recorded and mixed in cakewalk 9. Behringer B2 pro microphone. My conclusion is that the DD is worth every penny.. It feels easy to play even with those small pads. If playing with the fingers the dd has a special setting for that too. The only thing i didnt like was the foot pedals. I had to use one of my pearl drum-pedals to hit the bass-drum pad. It was hard to get the drumming accurate stepping on the pad, but the pearl rig solved it .

Well, the bow's fast, for sure - but to see how fast, I set up this test. Lacking a chronograph, I had to analyze the sound file with Audacity. I shot at a distance of 25 feet, outdoor temperature 1 degree Celsius. The bow's height was about 4 ft, making the slant distance 25.318 ft, give or take. Calibrated speed of sound, to correct for the time it takes the impact sound to get back to the microphone, is about 1089 fps. The first two shots are with carbon fiber arrows, 435 gr. The last is with a bamboo arrow, about 600 gr. The estimated speeds - and we're talking VERY loosely here, since I could be off by a foot or two for the distance, and perhaps a bit on the time estimate, leading to a fair margin of error - are as follows: Shot 1: 137-151 fps. Shot 2: 126-144 fps. Shot 3: 124-132 fps. Again, these numbers could be VERY wrong, but I've no way to tell for sure. At least until I get a chronograph :-) I'm a little disappointed with these numbers, since it's no faster than the estimate I made of one of my very early bows - I was hoping for some serious speed to repay me for the punishing draw weight, but no such luck, unless I'm grossly in error. I couldn't feel my fingertips for about a half hour after this :-P

I scored a pretty good deal on the full Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock band pack a few weeks back. Here I do an unboxing and quick test of the drums. I really only bought it for the newer style drums and that's the main focus in this vid. I'm a massive fan of rhythm based games and I'm kinda addicted to drumming on games like Guitar Hero :). But, the drum peripherals for both GH and Rock Band aren't the best quality and don't usually last long with prolonged use. Because I play them so often (and I'm probably a little too rough with them) they generally break after a few weeks. I normally end up fixing them but you can only do that so often before they finally call it quits and refuse to work properly. Most of the other parts from the bundle such as the game and mic have been sold. This is what I usually do with large bundles like this.
