Mr. Halbert is the musical director and keyboardist for Kelly Clarkson, he is also a Grammy nominated producer. Maddie's vocal coach, Diane Sheets, set up this recording session with Mr. Halbert and it was so much fun! You can barely catch a glimpse of Jason in the background. Diane is coaching Maddie throughout the session. Jason and Diane selected Sheryl Crow's "Light In Your Eyes" for Maddie to sing and wanted her to make it her own, they selected the song two days before the session so that it would be new and unrehearsed (that's why Diane is holding lyrics throughout most of the session). Diane Sheets has been working with Maddie for approximately two years. Ms. Sheets has worked with Diamond Rio, Natalie Grant and many other prominent vocalists in the industry. Maddie had a blast and is very thankful for the opportunity to work with Mr. Halbert and Ms. Sheets. One neat thing about this session is that Maddie is singing in Kelly Clarkson's personal vintage Neumann microphone - pretty awesome for Maddie's first recording studio experience! Skyrim Kinect: Fus Ro Dah, is the latest edition to the 'PC Games Kinected' lineup, which allows for full character control using both gestures and voice. Like the original Skyrim Kinect, you can use your arms to swing swords, cast spells, use your bow, or block with shieds. Movement, like walking/running and sneaking, is still handled with body movements and has seen an increase in precision. As a result, gameplay using the Bow is very enjoyable and preice. As well, Voice Commands have been greatly improved. In Skyrim Kinect: Fus Ro Dah, you can use your voice to select up to 11 spells, to drink mana/health potions, to equip your sword/shield/bow, and to equip 2 different armor sets. Voice Commands also allow you to say your favorite shouts (10 currently), by simply saying the dragon shout words of power. Not only can you say "Fus Ro Dah", you can also simply say "fus", or "fus roh". The majority of the shouts, which have multiple shout levels, use this approach. In this video I share some new spells and shouts, but also some functional voice commands. For example, switching character view (from 1st to 3rd), rotating the camera around your character, and taking screenshots. These more technical voice commands are actually quite important, as I found that playing in 3rd person has its advantages, and being able to switch on the fly is useful. Instrumentation: Violin and B Flat Clarinet Duration: 2:30 I've learned to never force music into the box I originally intended it to be put into, but this piece took that concept to a new level for me. My original plan was to write a sacred work for violin and saxophone for my friend and I to play during communion services. Typically, communion has two musical segments; one for each communion element. So, I wanted the work to be two movements with each being less than two minutes long. The first movement came together very naturally and very quickly, but then life happened and I never got around to writing the second movement. When I finally got a chance to work on it again, I realized that there was no good musical reason to add a second movement. I also realized that the only reason I was using the saxophone was because I sound my best on it. Clarinet blends with violin much more naturally (although I attribute this to traditional bias) and the very simple part I had written for it makes more sense with a simpler sound. I rewrote the piece for violin and clarinet thinking I would just have my wife play it instead (although I ended up recording it since we weren't married yet and she was 650 miles away at the time).
