Plantronics GAMECOM 780 Microphone Recording Sample
Plantronics GAMECOM 780 Microphone Recording Sample Video Clips. Duration : 3.27 Mins.
A recording sample made using the microphone on the Plantronics GAMECOM 780 headset. Apart from Fade In and Fade Out effects, this sound has not been processed in Camtasia. Recording level is set to maximum (100) in Windows and the recording software. Camtasia recorded the sound using 22.05kHz sample rate. This video clip shows that the mono microphone is presented as a stereo recording device in Windows, and that the recordings have a large DC offset. Record level from the microphone is relatively quiet, and I'd usually boost the volume in software, but I left it as is here for reference.

Zoom R16 recording drums
Zoom R16 recording drums Video Clips. Duration : 1.97 Mins.
My first test of the new Zoom R16. As I said before I'M NO DRUMMER! The video is demonstrating a simple test miking the drums going into a new Zoom R16 straight out of the box. The Zoom R16 is set to default in every way. I unpacked it, read the first couple of pages of the manual in order to get it started and hit the "record" button. I stuck a Shure SM58 in the bass drum and used a SM 57 for the snare. Two AKG C1000S were used as X/Y stereo overhead. The rehearsal studio is ok sound wise as there are absorbents all over the walls. There is no "room ambiance" though so the drums tend to sound a bit sterile and dull. Next time I might place a microphone outside the room in the hall with the door open to create some natural hall reverb. I imported the 4 tracks into Cubase, added some compressor, eq and a tiny bit of reverb. Thats it! Drums: Tama Rockstar (90's I think), Noname metal snare, Cymbals from my left to my right: Hihat: Paiste Signature 13", A Zildijan Thin Crash 17", A Zildijan Thin Crash 14" (not visable), A Zildijan Thin Crash 16", Paiste 2002 Ride 18", Paiste Signature Crasch 17" (I think), A Zildijan Ride Ping 18".

My Drum Recording Setup - Part 2
My Drum Recording Setup - Part 2 Tube. Duration : 3.95 Mins.
www.LanceCampeau.com I have spent the last 10 months building my drum kit and recording setup from the ground up. The purpose of this video is to demonstrate to all young drummers that a smartphone is not the right tool for recording drum audio. Recording drums is a complicated art form that takes and lot of different skills and equipment to pull off right. It starts with putting together the best equipment you can afford, practicing like hell and taking the time to learn how to do things right (drum tuning, microphone selection, mixing techniques etc...). I have been playing drums since I was a kid, but I have not owned a drum set since 1994. My playing isn't what it used to be... Equipment used for this recording... Drums Taye Pro X Series • 8", 10", 12" 14" & 16" Toms • 14"x5" Birch snare • 20" Kick Drum Heads: • Toms - Remo Emperor Coated on top, original Taye clear heads on bottom • Snare - Remo Ambassador Coated on top, Evans Hazy on bottom • Kick -- Evans EMAD on batter side, Taye original on resonant side (15"x10"x1" egg crate foam in the kick drum) Dampening: Moon Gels Hi Hats: • Refurbished Sabian B8 crash on top • Refurbished Paiste 505 hi hat bottom on bottom Ride Cymbals: • 20" Canadian made Zildjian (no model listed) • 22" Canadian made Zildjian (no model listed) Crash Cymbals: • Refurbished Sabian 19" AAX Metal Crash • Refurbished Sabian 18" AAX Explosion Crash • 18" Pasha Crash • 14" Refurbished Sabian AA Medium Crash • 16" Homemade Ozone Style Crash ...

In the Studio with Michael Wagener : recording drums part I/2
In the Studio with Michael Wagener : recording drums part I/2 Tube. Duration : 10.17 Mins.
Recording is an art and often a matter of experience, and so what better way of gaining some understanding of what's involved than by listening to the prestigious American engineer Michael Wagener talk about his recording tips and secrets. Starting with mic placement for drums ... Michael Wagener: If you like rock in general and metal in particular, you probably know his name, because this engineer has worked with some of the most prestigious artists such as: Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Queen, Alice Cooper, Megadeth, Helloween, Testament, Dokken, Mötley Crüe, Skid Row, Accept, Extreme, Janet Jackson, King's X. Quite simply, the list of albums and singles he has recorded or mixed is simply staggering... So when Royer Labs and Jukebox LTD invited us to meet him while he was in the studio with the band Cockpit, we jumped at the opportunity and decided to film the whole experience, to better show you how he does his thing. And needless to say, we weren't disappointed. We were even surprised. Not by Michael's skill (he has little to prove), but by his affable manner and willingness to share his wisdom. So, we were able to ask him almost anything we wanted about microphone placement, or about the gear he uses. The result is a kind of Masterclass, that we will unveil, episode by episode, in the coming weeks. Michael Wagener is quite exhaustive on the subject of mic placement, and his views are all the more interesting since he uses ribbon mics quite extensively. He therefore ...
