I talk about 50s versus modern wiring, my recording setup and how the audio is processed, measured cap values, and how to do double-blind testing. In part 4, I record another set of examples, now including ceramic caps and distorted examples. The caps I try here are: Orange Drop 225P 100V (polypropylene), Mallory 150 series (metallized polyester film), Russian K-409 PIO (paper in oil), mystery vintage yellow cylinder (identified as WMF 1S22 Polyester Film 100v from CDE Cornell Dubilier), the original Epi tone cap from my Riviera (probably mylar polyester film), NTE ceramic, mystery vintage gray cylinder (identified as Mullard/Phillips Mustard polyester foil/film 630v), and a vintage tropical fish (polyester film). Everything is played on my Epiphone Riviera P93 with Vintage Vibe Guitars P-90 pickups, through my Vox VT30 on the Boutique Clean and AC50CP2 models, mic'd with a Rode NT1 large diaphragm microphone. Hiya. I'm playing a soul/pop/R&B song called "It's too late to turn back now" from a band called "the Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose", who also did a song called "Treat her like a lady". I'm playing an Ibanez acoustic-electric guitar, playing my Yamaha Dtxplorer electronic drums with my feet (with 11 inch cowboy boots on), and I set up a 2nd microphone that's connected to a Digitech Vocalist 4 harmony effect pedal. I'm VERY SORRY ABOUT THE DARKNESS of this video, but nighttime was fast approaching while filming this, PLUS the telephone in the next room starting ringing around the 3:10 mark in the video, which really threw my singing off a few times. You can sort of hear somebody leaving a message on my answering machine in the background (laughs). But the show must go on, so I kept on playin! THAT'S why I kept singing the chorus over and over near the end of the song.... I was trying to cover up the guy talking on my answering machine! :) By the way, I'm actually playing my Yamaha Dtxplorer electronic drums with my feet in this song, which makes it even trickier to sing, play guitar, remember the words, AND play drums. There are a few parts that aren't exactly right in this including the solo but i have tried to play it the best i can and i think the video has turned out alright. all guitars apart from the extra lead section of guitar in the chorus have been played and recorded by me using my custom Dean Cadillac with a set of Bareknuckle Warpig pickups installed, a Krank Krankenstein+ amp and 4x12 cabinet and a Maxon 0D808 pedal going into 2 mics set up in stereo (presonus m7 condenser mic and a shure PG57 instrument mic as i couldnt afford an SM57) then run straight into a presonus audiobox and recorded using studio one 2.5. Since the previous upload of this song i have re-done the EQ for the guitars and fixed the drum video sync problem at the end of the song. I scored a pretty good deal on the full Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock band pack a few weeks back. Here I do an unboxing and quick test of the drums. I really only bought it for the newer style drums and that's the main focus in this vid. I'm a massive fan of rhythm based games and I'm kinda addicted to drumming on games like Guitar Hero :). But, the drum peripherals for both GH and Rock Band aren't the best quality and don't usually last long with prolonged use. Because I play them so often (and I'm probably a little too rough with them) they generally break after a few weeks. I normally end up fixing them but you can only do that so often before they finally call it quits and refuse to work properly. Most of the other parts from the bundle such as the game and mic have been sold. This is what I usually do with large bundles like this. This way, in the end you only end up paying a very small amount for the actual drum kit. Thanks for watching!
